So I was walking down the river the other day. Think you've probably worked out by now, that this is not an unusual occurrence for me. But at one point I stopped and was sitting on a seat and looking at the reflection in the water. I got to thinking about reflections and reality. Reality has the trees right way up, roots planted in the ground and leaves towards the sky, while the reflection has an appearance of something that is upside down and maybe even two trees with their "tops" touching each other. The reflection looked beautiful, but if I didn't know what it was a reflection of, I might get confused and not actually see it for what it was.
I wonder how many of us are looking at the reflection of something in our lives, rather than the truth of the reality? Or how many of us are reflecting the behaviour of another person, or even taking on the attitudes of another?
I wonder how life would be different, if we chose to look at the reflections through the lenses of having seen the real thing, rather than looking at the real thing through the lenses of the reflection? And I also wonder what would happen if we chose to be our true selves and make our own reflection, based on who we are, rather than reflecting someone else.
What if we lived our lives, to the best of our ability and didn't compare them to anyone else, but instead discovered the beauty of who we are and then let the light in us reflect that.
